Posted by Coach Orr in MEDIA.add a comment
Thursday, the 22nd – will be our
television [Inside Lacrosse] debut.
We’ve created a one hour lacrosse pre-season special that will run at
4 pm thursday on ‘the deuce,’ so set the ti-vo. (More episodes soon
to come).
“Over the past ten years, we’ve made books, calendars, magazines,
yearbooks, web offerings, and then there’s our upcoming event,” said
IL Publisher Robert Carpenter. “This show has been the most fun, most
collaborative, and most advanced product we’ve ever done. It really
showcases what makes this sport so much fun to play.”
Check it out if you can!
If you miss the ESPN2 airing, the show will be in rotation on ESPN U
for the next week, so pick it up there if you can. (showtimes below).
Also, speaking of firsts, March 3rd will be our first event. We’re
taking over M & T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens, for
what is looking like the biggest regular season day of lacrosse ever.
We’re bringing Syracuse, Virginia, Johns Hopkins and Princeton – the
four teams which have won every NCAA title for the past 15 years -
into M & T on the opening day of the season for a double-header.
We’ve blown away the regular season ticket sale record already with
10,500, and the more the merrier – so if you’re in the area we’d love
to have you.
Thanks, and hope all is well in your world….
Bob Carpenter

February 14, 2007
from press releases
This season, ESPN Inc. will increase its commitment to college lacrosse with an extensive regular-season schedule, unprecedented coverage of the entire NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship, a new event, new studio show, plus more. ESPNU will open the season with a doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 24 — Albany at #2 Johns Hopkins (12 p.m. ET) and Dartmouth at #8 Duke (2 p.m.). The network will televise 22 regular-season games, including 20 men’s and two women’s contests.
Before game coverage starts, a new show, Inside Lacrosse TV, will launch on ESPN2, with repeat airings on ESPNU. There will be two one-hour specials, hosted by ESPNU’s Mike Hall and Quint Kessenich, that will preview and review the season. The preview special is scheduled to premiere on ESPN2 at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, and the review special is scheduled to be aired on Monday, June 11 at 4 p.m. In addition, ESPN’s relationship with Inside Lacrosse extends online through a content agreement with ESPN.com. Under the agreement, ESPN.com has expanded its on-line coverage of lacrosse and integrated coverage of professional, collegiate and prep lacrosse content from Insidelacrosse.com and Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
For the first time ever, the ESPN networks will televise all 15 games from the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship. ESPNU will provide exclusive coverage of all eight First Round games (up from four last year) and Quarterfinal action (May 12 – 20); ESPN2 will televise the National Semifinals (May 26) and ESPN will present the National Championship on May 28.
ESPNU’s men’s lacrosse regular-season line-up will showcase 13 of the top 20 teams, according to the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Preseason Media Poll, while three of the four women’s teams to be featured on ESPNU are ranked in the top 10. The network will also televise the inaugural Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Classic Saturday, Mar. 3 at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium. This doubleheader will feature the four teams that have won every NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship since 1992 as #2 Johns Hopkins will play #4 Princeton at noon, with #3 Syracuse playing #1 Virginia at 2:30 p.m.
As part of a multi-year agreement with Johns Hopkins University lacrosse, ESPNU will present every men’s home game. This season, Johns Hopkins will be featured 10 times, including nine men’s games and one women’s matchup.
Of the 10 Johns Hopkins lacrosse men’s and women’s games scheduled this season on ESPNU, several games will be ESPNU original telecasts, whereas the other games will co-exist with local ABC affiliate, WMAR-TV (Baltimore, Md.). In addition, ESPNU will also air the following men’s games, which will also air on WMAR: #8 Duke at #6 Maryland (Mar. 3 at 7:30 p.m.), #6 Maryland at #12 Towson (Mar. 10 at 8:30 p.m.), #19 Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) at #6 Maryland (Mar. 17 at 1 p.m.), Ohio State at #19 UMBC (Mar. 25 at 1 p.m.) and #3 Syracuse at #13 Loyola, Md. (Mar. 31 at 1 p.m.).
The commentators slated for this season’s coverage will include Mark Dixon, Scott Garceau, Kessenich, Dave Ryan and more.
