Denver lacrosse player has unique offseason conditioning program February 29, 2008

Lacrosse is easy for Andrew Bourke these days. Diminutive in stature, the 5-foot-7, 165-pound senior never had it easy on the lacrosse field — until recently. Constantly battling with Division I college players much taller or heavier than him, Bourke has earned every minute of playing time he gets as a reserve attackman for No. 16 Denver, a program he grew up idolizing as a Denver resident. But after working the past three summers as a deckhand on a deep-sea fishing boat off the coast of Alaska, lacrosse now seems like a walk in the park to Bourke. More>>

Johns Hopkins holds off Duke for ninth national championship May 28, 2007

Although the NCAA Division I National Championship game was played in Johns Hopkins’ home city, Duke took the field looking very much like the home team — coming out of M&T Bank Stadium’s end zone tunnel clad in white jerseys, walking slowly to half field before sprinting to the back right corner of the field to a thunderous applause. All that was missing during the Blue Devils’ entrance were the fireworks and fighter jets streaking in the sky above. MORE >>

New NCAA DIII Lacrosse Program March 15, 2007
Posted by Coach Orr in COLLEGE.add a comment
In some form of communications or another, and throughout the academic year, I have introduced myself, our new NCAA DIII lacrosse program, and solicited input on fine young men who have graced your rosters. Your season has just gotten underway or soon will be and I have come to yet another critical juncture in my recruiting cycle. At this point of the year most of your players have made their decisions on where they will attend next year. What I am after are those who may still be in search of, undecided and are looking for a good opportunity for a top notch education and a desire to participate in Division III lacrosse.
Wells College is a small, private, liberal arts school with great ties to Cornell University. Some may know it better as a former “all-women’s” school, as we transitioned to coeducational in 2005. By today’s standards we offer a rather affordable education: Approx. 24,000 for room, board and tuition. Within the above statements are many features that make our opportunity a unique one; 8:1 student teacher ratio, student body of less than 600, male female ratio, etc …
The college is located in Aurora, New York, on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. We are within close proximity to the cities of Ithaca, Syracuse and Rochester; and surrounded by lacrosse excellence. Cornell University, Syracuse University, Hobart College, LeMoyne College, SUNY Cortland and Onondaga Community College are all within one hour travel.
As far as lacrosse, our first season will be the 2007-2008 academic year so I have been pounding the pavement and working the phones primarily targeting High School Seniors (Class of 2007) and JuCo sophomores to fill that roster. I am attempting to bring in 25 - 30 players for this class, so it is a good opportunity for the right players to make an immediate impact. Thus far, I feel confident that I have a solid core of 15 recruits, with another 15 on the bubble. But in DIII you just never know and as both of us know; there is a huge difference between a roster of 16 and a roster of 35.
So what am I after? I am after the contact information on any of your players who you feel are appropriate for our program and are still in search of the right institution. I apologize if any of this is redundant as it takes a generic form to reach the masses, but I need to feel that I have overturned each and every stone to find the right young men.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Respectfully, Mike
Michael D. Eighmey
